Floyd Hunter papers, 1933-1989.

The collection consists of papers of Floyd Hunter from 1933-1989. The papers include Hunter's writings, particularly unpublished fiction written for various audiences including children (1950s-1970s); unpublished non-fiction including his later work in the area of social relativity (1957-1989); and published nonfiction (1942-1980). The collection also includes speeches, lectures, and articles; research reports, files of notes and data, minutes, and other corporate records from Hunter's firms Social Science Research and Development Corporation and Decision Data; ideas and working papers (1933-1984) which provide information on Hunter's political sociology contributions; and correspondence and biographical material. The collection documents the history of reformist thought in the twentieth century through inclusion of Hunter's early writings which express a kind of liberal social gospelism and his later work which helped crystailize the development of an American "power elite" school in American social thought and theory.
